In a new interview that took place this week, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian asserted that the Islamic government, which is the most prominent state sponsor of terrorism in the world, had “never” attempted to kill President-elect Donald Trump.

The allegations made by Pezeshkian come despite the fact that Iran made at least two attempts to kill President Trump in the previous year, both of which were thwarted by law enforcement officials from the federal government.

The remarks were delivered by him during an interview with Lester Holt, who was interviewing him for NBC News. Holt came to Tehran for the interview.

In response to a question about whether or not there was ever a plot to kill Trump, Pezeshkian stated, “There is absolutely no such thing.”

During the month of November, the Department of Justice of the United States of America revealed an indictment against many individuals who were involved in schemes to kill an Iranian dissident, two Jewish Americans, and President Trump on the territory of the United States.

“There are few actors in the world that pose as grave a threat to the national security of the United States as does Iran. The Justice Department has charged an asset of the Iranian regime who was tasked by the regime to direct a network of criminal associates to further Iran’s assassination plots against its targets, including President-elect Donald Trump.” Attorney General Merrick Garland stated.

A number of charges have been brought against Farhad Shakeri, who is 51 years old and hails from Iran.

These charges include murder-for-hire, conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, money laundering conspiracy, conspiring to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization, and conspiracy to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and sanctions against the Government of Iran.

Shakeri is still at large and is presumed to be within Iran. If found guilty on all charges, he may confront a sentence of 100 years in jail.
