Iran Threatens Israel in New Way

Following Iran’s massive attack on Israel, the United States has stepped up its sanctions against Iran. In turn, Iran has told Israel in no uncertain terms that it would use weapons of mass destruction against it if it targeted its nuclear facilities.

Many in the United States Government, including Congressmen, have called for the United States to become directly involved in the undeclared war with Iran. Iran’s new nuclear threats have now elevated the problems in the region, and could get America directly involved. USA Today says:

The U.S. announced a fresh set of sanctions on Iran targeting the production of unarmed aerial vehicles Thursday as Tehran warned Israel it would review its official stance on nuclear weapons if its atomic facilities were attacked.

The latest wave of actions Thursday by the United States and Iran come on the heels of Tehran’s missile and drone attack on Israel last weekend.

Iran has long had a nuclear program, allegedly only for civilian purposes. Still, the 2000s and 2010s were dominated with stories of Iran enriching uranium in the hopes of producing a nuclear weapon. Iran remains a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, but could withdraw as was the case with North Korea. Fox News continues:

Iran launched hundreds of missiles and drones at Israel on Saturday in response to an apparent strike on Iran’s embassy compound in Syria on April 1 that killed 12 people, including two Iranian generals. Iran blames Israel for the attack, although Israel has not claimed any involvement.

Raisi said Saturday’s attack was a limited one but that “nothing would remain from the Zionist regime,” should it escalate the current situation, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Israel has an undeclared stockpile of nuclear weapons, which can be fired from missiles, bombers, and submarines. Should Iran attack Israel to such a degree that its statehood is at risk, chances are that Israel will retaliate against many of its enemies throughout the Middle East.
